By "retro," I mean here's a photo from my parents' backyard four months ago:

Many of my spare thoughts recently have been spent on ways to fulfill wishes that seemed unbearably distant when I was little.

Like, even though I got my driver's license many years ago, I still allow a flutter to pass through my chest sometimes when I remember what a thrill I once imagined driving a car to be. And it is a thrill! I mean, have you driven a car lately? It is so fun. You don't have to forget about that just because driving is a common occurrence now.

So when I was sitting around in my room, gazing at all my gadgets and imagining what a younger me would do with them, I knew what I would have done with my grown-up camera. I just would have taken pictures of myself making faces. It's not like I haven't done this before, but it's better when I'm thinking about how much the 8-year-old in my head is loving every second.
