Here's an oldie from 2009: This cocker spaniel is Bailey. He's just hanging out with his people in Jackson, Ohio.

Retro post

By "retro," I mean here's a photo from my parents' backyard four months ago:

Father's Day

I went home to celebrate Father's Day (and to give my dad some photos of me and my four sisters, taken by my pal Erica McKeehen). I was there for just a little more than a day, but I snapped a few shots of some of my family.

Just a few shots of my little nephew.

The same weekend of the terrible floods in some of the southern states, I visited hometown of Jackson, Ohio. My nephew and I went for a walk to a park and checked out the comparatively little flooding in our area.

We found some people swimming there, which I must admit looked fun, but it also looked super gross.

Just my dad, through a paperweight. I liked the funhouse effect.

I spent one of my last days volunteering at the library today. This morning, these chairs started out cautioning people against walking on the ice, but five hours later, they just look kind of silly. I liked the achtung yellow against that teal, though.

After getting dinner with her friend Courtney, Beth and I headed out on a Goodwill mission. I didn't buy anything, but I like imagining who actually DOES buy some things--I know the stuff ends up somewhere, because it's in the store one week and gone the next. What is your future, orphaned clown head?

The other night, my friend Natalie and I went out to my sister's house in the country so that we could destroy her pristinely snowy hillside with silly little fireworks that Natalie's brother had given us.

Jackson finally got a respectable amount of snow, so Natalie and I celebrated it with a walk in the woods. We were looking for good sticks to use for a DIY jewelry stand I wanted to make.

My dad walks my sister to the car as she, her husband and their baby go back home after their holiday visit with us. They're moving to Italy soon, and when they visit, we all treat them as if it's the last time we'll ever see them. We've been doing this since August.

My nephew showed us his newfound love for his Johnny Jump Up when my sister and her family visited for Thanksgiving. I caught him in a rare, motionless moment here.

Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Ohio.

When I was little, we called this Christ Church stairway the "secret passageway," simply because no one ever seemed to use it. It isn't exactly secret, but I must admit there's still something mystical about it.

The sun was almost overwhelmingly bright when I went to Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson to take photos for the Capital Campaign video I was making. Admittedly, it would have been better if I'd had time to get photos of people IN the pews, but I had to come in on a Saturday.

Natalie's sister Erica asked me to come out to her house to take photos of their surrounding property because it is so picturesque. I took plenty of nice photos of the Appalachian landscapes, but I couldn't help but spend some time with her dogs, too -- this one is Bailey.

Hiding from boys at the Jackson County Apple Festival.

Scenes from the Jackson County Apple Festival parade.

My nephew got baptized, and he loved being the center of attention for an even larger audience (the whole church congregation).
